stop showing top hits in search bar on safari

Every time I enter something in the search bar at the top of safari, I get a top hit - see attached image.

I have tried everything (including deleting the history in the safari library and clearing all history), but to no avail.

Any suggestions to remove this top hits would be appreciated.

Popups in Safari I am often getting popups (see attachment) when I search something in Safari. It is like a small insert screen giving me a short description of the subject, with links to websites. It is not a big deal on my iMac, as I can click to the side and get rid of it. But, when it happens on my iPhone or iPad I do not have that option and cannot go any further, unless I click on the link, which does me no good. Does anyone have an idea how I stop this from happening? Thanks!

Safari problem under Ventura 13 I can't find this issue referred to among the many problems with Safari. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, so I will also include a screenshot or two: When I navigate to a website, then click on something specific on the website, such as a particular subject mentioned on a Wikipedia page, rather than hyperlink to that specific sub-article within Wikipedia, I am confronted with a drop-down bare page of slightly enlarged type from the sub-article, but without any accompanying images-just a large, bare page of text. This didn't happen two months ago, but it does now, and it doesn't happen in Google Chrome. I would like it to stop. It may be a result of some stupid move on my part, but I can't find a preference for it anywhere in Safari. See images: one shows what happens in Safari. The other shows what I get in Chrome.

Safari changes page When I go to a new page using search a different screen screen which is larger pops up. If I click outside new page, it goes away. This is very annoying. It just started several days ago. How can I stop this from happening?

Yup - did that last time:

I think Safari is just tapping into my bookmarks now. I have a ton of old bookmarks, so by deleting any old bookmarks that I do not want to show up, at least I can get safari to just pick better top hits, even if I cannot completely disable it.

Have you tried going to Safari/Preferences/Search and unchecking Preload Top Hit in the background?
