macbook air keeps on restarting by itself

Hi, i have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) running on catalina 10.15.5.

I am the only user.

Have done the check on Terminal (in utilities) but no message came up.

Every once in a while, maybe 2 a day my mac restart by itself.

I have chrome, safari and firefox. Ad block, spotify...and a bunch of apps.

not sure what might be going on.

But would love to know how to fix it.

I never shut down my mac, just close it when going to bed.

Always connected to the cable of power.

Can anybody help? I am from Argentina, so no apple store around, and obviously out or warranty, since i bought it in mid 2014.

Thanks in advance!

Franco

You may want to try some basic troubleshooting techniques and see whether that resolves things. You will have to remain patient and try the following steps one at a time and then observe before you move to the next one.

  1. Reset SMC by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset SMC. If that does not solve things then-
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVRAM/PRAM. If that does not solve things then-
  3. Enter ➔ Safe Mode and see if the screen issue still exists in Safe mode. Log out of Safe Mode and then reboot computer. If that does not solve things then-
  4. Finally if none of the above works then you can enter ➔ macOS Recovery Mode and reinstall the macOS and see if that solves it.

Hi,

You'd better run Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics if it reports something.

If it doesn't help, contact Apple support or make Genius Bar reservation or take your MacBook Air to Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined it. You would need to repair it.

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply!

I closed chrome and safari web browser, spotify as well. left firefox open with just one tab. When I woke up, it didnt seem it has restarted.

Been using firefox only and itunes this morning and so far no restart.

will try using spotify with fireforx only and see what happens.

I will be doing all your recommendations as well.

Thanks again.

As soon as I have more info I will post it.
