I can not see my messages on the icloud. My phone is set to back them up

If you sync them to icloud as outlined in my first link, message is not part of the icloud backup.
If you don't sync them to icloud, then it is included in the backup, which can't be viewed by going to icloud.com

I am confused.... I have my phone turned on to back them up. Why is there not a MESSAGE app in the icloud. So does it back them up some where else?
messages are not backup in icloud. iphone is set to backup messages but I don't see them in the icloud
