MacBook and external monitor

Hi apple community,

I have an 2019 MacBook Pro 13 inch Touch Bar. I want to connect it to an external monitor. When I am doing this I would like to close the lid of the MacBook and then that screen would turn off and the external one keeps working. Is that possible? (I don't want my MacBook screen to be turned on when the lid is closed that is very bad for the screen especially if you consider the fact that I use adobe and other cpu intensive tasks.)

thanks already for the help:)

Using the computer in closed display mode does not damage the display. Just follow the instructions at the link already provided.
