I have a MacBook Pro 15" about 5 years old now, currently on Catalina 10.15.5 and looking to get an ethernet adapter. I have Thunderbolt 1 or 2 (not sure which) and wondering if anyone has had problems with their Thunderbolt ethernet adapter after upgrading. If that is the case, I would like recommendations on which adapter has worked well for you.

I've found some third party adapters can have some odd quirks.

I use it when working on any and all Macs which have a Thunderbolt port. I even use it on the newer USB-C Macs with a USB-C to Thunderbolt Adapter. Also all manner of OS. I know it booted a laptop into Internet Recovery Mode which booted to Mountain Lion.
