I have four gmail accounts, all of which I have had syncing to Mail on my iPhone for years. Suddenly, one of them either won't sync or very rarely syncs. I have checked all settings, none of them have changed, they are the same as the other accounts. I have even deleted the account from the phone and re-added it. That helped for a day or two and now it is back to not working. What on earth is going on?

It also seems like it works better on cellular than in WiFi? But nothing else is problematic on WiFi.
What did Google say when you asked them?
If it ever works once in iOS, it becomes a Google issue. iOS simply routes the server data back and forth.

I wasn’t aware that google was responsive in these issues? This is a free account.
And it's their email account, not Apples.
Did you look at their support site as suggested?
They must support their product. Nobody else can.

There is nothing "free" about Google. It's an unpaid account.
