Can I retrieve deleted photos?

I recently gifted my old Macbook to a friend currently doing life tough. I deleted the photos on the Macbook but now I cannot find any photos on my own Macbook (same year model) or any of my external portable WD or Seagate drives. I fear that somehow in wiping the iPhoto on his Mac, I have deleted all of my children's photos, wedding photos-everything for the last 18 years. I fear that all of my laptops and hard drives are connected and my entire library is now gone. Any help is appreciated!

If you use iCloud, deleting them from one device deletes them from all, but that is only via iPhotos. If they are just in folders on a hard drive, the Mac should leave them alone.

from your iCloud Photos and iCloud storage. You can recover your photos

and videos from the Recently Deleted album for 30 days."

I had taken most of my photos from my iPhoto library and had them in separate files on my three external 500gb hard drives. Now I cannot locate any of the files on any of the drives. Do hard drives immediately sync with your iPhoto when you plug them in & if the old Mac was cleared, has registered with the drives & now cleared Them too?

I haven’t used a program to clean anything, only recall deleting all of the iPhoto images off my old Mac. I still don’t understand how I cannot find any files containing photos on my hard drives. I had on each hard drive a folder called my photos and then within that file I had categorized all photos. For example, I used to live In China but when I type any title of any file containing photos The search for them nothing comes up. Cannot find the file all the photos inside the files.

keith,I believe I’ve tried everything at this point. I logged onto my iCloud last night but due to me having very limited space in my iCloud and, from my understanding, iCloud deleting photos every few days as Moore arrive I could not find any of the photos in my iCloud either. I will check the finder again and see if that makes a difference in accessing the files I’m not sure how it would make much difference

Keith, thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it. To confirm if I have my iPhone, iPad and my two MacBooks all linked together, sharing photos etc. my deleting of my old MacBook won’t delete my photos across all devices? Is that correct?

I’m still uncertain as to why the hard drives are all Empty of my photo files. My only thought here is that as soon as I plug my hard drives into my empty MacBook iPhoto it is instantly sinking and clearing the drives as well. Can this happen? Thank you again mate. Very much appreciated.
