Unable to open MS Word

I upgraded to Mac OS Catalina today. But I find that I am unable to open MS word documents.

32 bit apps do not run on Catalina. If your Microsoft Office version is older that 2016 updated you will need to buy a newer version of Office.

Bob is correct, you very likely also have other 32 bit apps which will no longer run. They too will have to be upgraded if possible or replaced.
