What is it that you are trying to do?
What iPad do you have and what is the reason for wanting to return it?
All the newest iPad models offered by Apple use either the 1st gen Apple Pencil or for the 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro models, the 2nd gen Apple Pencil.
What, exactly is your issue and with what iPad model are you having this issue?
You have to purchase/pay for an Apple Pencil to use with an iPad/iPad Pro.
No Apple Pencils come with ANY iPad.
You must purchase/pay for the Apple Pencil 2nd gen to use with your 11 inch screen iPad Pro.
