Location services are not working MBP 2019

I'm hoping someone can help. I have a 15" MBP 2019 running the latest Catalina. I have a netgear cable modem (my own) connected to an Orbi and a Satellite. I can't for the life of me get maps or the MBP to find its current location. Other points:

  • my other MBP, iPad (wi-fi), iPhone(s) all know their current location
  • i have checked every possible wifi setting i can think of
  • i have removed then readded the wifi network
  • i have removed then re-added the wifi connection itself
  • I have connected to my iPhone hotspot

I feel like the location services preferences are corrupt or something like that, but I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

You didn't mention it, so I'll ask.

Location Services is enabled in Security & Privacy System Preferences?

You might try toggling it off then on if already on.

I'm not sure where the location preferences are stored, but if you can figure that out, you might be on to something. Delete the preference file then toggle Location Services off and back on.

Some random things to try, but I don't know why some would be related.

Boot into Safe Mode then restart normally.

Reset NVRAM

Reset SMC - seems like all of the systems used for Location Services are running, so this is a complete lark.
