cannot pair apple watch

I bought an apple watch series 3 and tried to pair with my phone but it is saying that my apple id is not valid. the watch is brand new and never paired before. how can i pair the watch to my phone?

First, be sure you are following the watch setup instructions properly. See Set up your Apple Watch https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204505


If the instructions above don't help you are sure you are using the right Apple ID/Password, then your watch likely is defective. I have seen these circumstances before. If I have then right, then your only option is to contact Apple Support (for help and direction about what to do). Some support options are below. Alternatively, if an Apple Store is open in your area, then you can go there to deal with your problem. In this case, you can make a genius-bar appointment (https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/) if you want. Note that, in either case, you will need to have the receipt for your purchase of the watch from an authorized Apple seller with its serial number on it.
