I am struggling to retrieve videos from the iCloud to put onto my mac so I may clear my iPhone

I am struggling to retrieve videos from the iCloud to put onto my mac so I may clear my iPhone.

Each time I try and retrieve a video it takes around 10 minutes or more to get the video back onto my phone. I would like to get ALL of my videos off my phone and onto my mac. Can anyone offer some advise please?
