APPLE MAIL PROGRAM CRASHES

I AM USING AN IMAC, OS HIGH SEIRRA 13.10.4. MAIL CRASHES EVERYDAY, SOMETIMES MORE OFTEN A DAY. IT ALSO STARTED DOING SOME WEIRD STUFF. IE: WHILE MAKING CORRECTIONS IN A REPLY OR FORWARD, IT WILL JUST ARBITRARIALLY SEND THE MESSAGE WHILE I AM CORRECTING SPELLING, FOR NO REASON.

iMac 21.5", macOS 10.13

Hi Al,

Please report after these...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

There is also free Malwarebytes which may take care of it...

I have three Macs, one iMac with El Capitan, one Macbook Air with High Sierra, and one Macbook Air with Catalina. All three have mail crashes several times per hour. I live a a rural area that is serviced by Verizon Broadband. Sometimes we tether to our phones and sometimes we use our Airport Network which is connected via MiFi (glorified cell phone). Anyway, we have the same problems when we travel and connect through other WiFi network or Cell connections. The only thing in common is the Apple Mail Server. I know that sounds crazy, but judging from the number of complaints, others are having the same problem. So far, none of the recommended fixes have corrected the problem. I've tried ALL of them.
