Sometimes when plugged in, the power adapter is recognised, but in the menu bar under battery it says 'battery is not charging'.
Then when I unplug the charger, it still shows as plugged into to the power adapter, and not charging.
This is the original USB-C charger and cable that came with my MacBook (15" 2016).
Restarting the machine usually solves the issue for a while.

If your USB-C power adapter isn't charging your Mac notebook ...
Ok it seems like the solution was to reset the SMC. Will see if the fix holds, but for anyone else with the same issue, this seems like the thing to do.
It seems this hasn't worked. The issue has returned again 24 hours later.
