Photos library in documents and photos

Hello,

my Mac says that my photos need around 50Gb. The strange thing is that in my Documents there are Photos again with >60Gb.

I only have one photo library and I don't know what the issue is. The system claims over 110Gb are taken by pictures although there should be only 50Gb taken.

Has anybody a solution for that?

Photos library too large I have about 5,000 photos on my macbook pro, taking up around 21 GB of space according to the Photos app. When I look at the Photos library on Finder, the ”originals” folder is indeed 21GB but the ”masters” folder is 72 GB. Photo Library 'originals' folder suddenly grown in size Hello I have recently brought a new MacBook and after signing into iCloud, I could see all my photos available via the photos app. Checking storage on my Mac saw the size of my Photo library come in around 2-3GB, which is what I expected, as I had chosen the option in Photos to Maximise my Mac storage, not download originals. However, after using the laptop in a different location from my home (and having it actually plugged into power as opposed to just running of battery) the size of my Photo library has leapt up to 25GB. Looking in the package contents of the Photo library, I can see that loads of the originals of my photos have now mysteriously downloaded...even though I still have maximise Mac storage selected in the Photos app. As an experiment, I deleted one of the originals (from the originals folder inside the Photos app package contents accessed via the Finder) and it still seems to be viewable in the Photos app... So, can anyone offer any help as to why Photos has suddenly started downloading originals? And can anyone offer any advice on how I can shrink the library back down to around 2GB? Can I just delete the originals from the package contents folder? Many thanks for any help in advance!!

Photo library consuming too much of my limited storage space My photos are supposed to be stored on iCloud with only a small version stored on my computer, but I have a photo library that takes up about 76 gig, It's the single biggest consumer of space on my MacBook Air. I'm virtually out of storage space (I don't have enough to update system software) and need to free some up. I'm wondering if the big photo library is a duplicate that could be deleted, but I don't want to lose the photos. How can I find out, and how can I create space?

Ok, yes but I want to install Windows via Bootcamp and the Bootcamp-Assistant shows that there is only 40Gb free. There must be at least 100Gb left of free storage. How can I empty up that storage so that I can use it?

Go through your files and either move them to an external drive or delete them.
