Replace 2011 MacBook Pro 15 HDD running High Sierra with SSD from 2009 MacBook Pro 13 running El Capitan? How? Can I?

Hello, I have a 2009 MacBook Pro 13 with a new SSD running El Capitan. I want to physically move that SSD to a 2011 MacBook Pro 15 running High Sierra, replacing the HDD with the new SSD. How do I do that? Can I do that?

Correct.

Just make sure you have a good verified working backup first just in case something goes wrong. You should always have a good backup since it is impossible to recover accidentally deleted data from an SSD. Plus SSDs can fail at any time without any warning signs.
