I forgot my password to my iPad how to I fix this

You will Need a Mac/PC to restore it
you will be prompted by iTunes to enter the passcode on the device as you have forgotten it the iPad will have to be put in recovery mode see https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201263
If find my was enabled and the iPad has an iCloud account associated with it once restored you will be prompt to enter the iCloud account information associated with the iPad unfortunately if you don't know try resetting your Apple ID Password see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487
Unfortunately there is no way of getting all data stored on the iPad back
