Built-in Camera Freezes

I think a lot of people have this issue, but whenever I try to use my built-in camera (Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) the camera freezes. It can take 5 seconds to 1 minute to happen, but it happens every time. Stopping and starting the camera in the app seems to fix it, at least for 5 seconds to 1 minute again. It happens in every program that uses the camera - Facetime, Zoom, Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype etc.

I am having to produce a lot of live content right now for work, and this is killing me. Does anyone know of a reasonable solution, other than buying another computer for live meetings, or an external camera? Is Apple working on a fix, given it seems to be a common problem?

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.

Have you blown the dust out of the intakes lately?

What temperatures does this App report? Especially the GPU.

This App can be used to speed up the fans, all my iMacs would be dead without it.

Never ever ever drop fan speeds below the speed that the Mac itself is calling for.
