problem updating mavericks to catalina

I tried to update my mid-2014 MacBook Pro to Catalina. I went to download it from the Apple Store, and nothing seemed to happen. Thought I'd try it again, but now it tells me it's already installed. 'About This Mac' still says 'OS X 10.9.5'. What do I do now?

iMac will not upgrade OSX. Confusing and contradictory info. My Imac late 2013 thinks it's running 10.9.5 I tried downloading and installing Mavericks, but it didn't seem to do anything and still thinks it's running 10.9.5 Looked up Catalina in the Apple Store - where it says it's installed So I should be running Catalina, but About This Mac says 10.9.5, and some software won't run because it says I'm using outdated OSX. But I can't download and install any OS upgrades, and the store thinks I'm running Catalina already! Very weird. Can anyone shed any light?

Mac OS for iMac late 2012 I have replaced a failed hard drive on my 21.5 inch A1 iMac (late 2012) and have installed Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Before the drive failed the iMac was running a more recent version of Mac OS. I am unable to update the mac os since hard drive replacement. According to the apple website this machine should be able to update to Catalina 10.17.7. Is there a way to update the OS to Catalina on this machine if Software update does not show it? Thanks

Hello,

You would need to update to macOS 10.11 El Capitan before you can upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina.
