Why am I unable to connect my new apple watch to my iPhone? I am stuck at the "Connecting your Apple Watch. This may take a moment" for over two hours now.. Why?

Has the watch ever been paired to another phone?.If so follow these steps first;

What to do before you sell, give away or trade in your Apple Watch, or buy one from someone else – Apple Support
