Upgrade to Catalina

I have a 2019 Macbook air and currently on a Mojave OS. I tried to upgrade to Catalina but the installer does not appear after I download the new OS. I have 250GB hard drive and 8GB memory. I just got my mac and I have enough space (less than 20GB used up space). Thank you for your advice on what to do.

Did you check in the Applications folder for the installer titled "Install macOS Catalina.app"?
