Loss of external monitor display

I use an external monitor to my MacBook.

Until yesterday, whenever I closed my MacBook, the external monitor continued to display my MacBook screen. Great.

However, this morning this has stopped working. When I close my MacBook, the external monitor goes dark and reports no input. I have tried re-starting and re-connecting. But no luck.

Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro 2017, 13", Big Sur 11.6, Did Not Work With Apple External Monitor I connect the monitor using the USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter. It only work for less than 30 seconds then the monitor goes black. The 'Displays' in System Preferences also shown that it is totally disconnected. I tried turn off the monitor, re-connect the adapter to my MacBook, same thing happens - the monitor connects for about 30 seconds and then poof.. it disappear! If i connect other brands' monitor using HDMI (adapter) it works superbly! Its seems that a Mac DID NOT work with a Mac! What should i do???

External display screen goes black for a few seconds every few minutes with macbook air 2017 13 Hi all, I have a macbook air 2017 13 inch and a Dell monitor. I use a Belkin TB to hdmi cable to connect to my monitor. What happens is that when connected to the second screen, the second screen turns black for a few seconds (sometimes 10-20 seconds, sometimes just 1 or 2). This seems to happen completely random and sometimes it doesn't happen for 30 minutes whereas at times it happens a few times per minute. My macbook screen does not turn black when the second screen does. I have had the same issue before with another monitor so something tells me that the issue is with my mac and not the monitors. Could anyone help me resolve this issue? I wonder if it could be a faulty cable or if I have to change some of my settings?
