My Apple Watch. My wife’s cellular service. I have different carrier. Use for cellular for data only.

Hello kind people. I’m looking to get an Apple Watch Series 5 GPS/Cellular. I cannot link it to my cellular service because my iPhone is provided by my employer and the corporate account does not support Apple Watch. I am looking to get the Apple Watch through my wife’s Sprint account. I understand that it will link the cellular service to her phone. Would I be able to use the cellular service for data only, not texting and calling? I just Apple Watch to have data service for IMessages, email and other apps, paired to my iPhone (not hers). I don’t want to receive text messages and calls intended for her phone. My work iPhone is Verizon and her iPhone is on Sprint. Thank you.

You would be an extension of your Wife's iPhone, getting all her texts, alerts, phone calls, email, etc...

And because notifications go to the Apple Watch, you Wife would not even know she got any of the above.

The GPS only Apple Watch can do  Everything  the cellular model can do  as long as  your iPhone is  nearby, where nearby is somewhere in the same 3-4 bedroom home (assuming typical wood frame construction).

The Cellular Apple Watch allows you to leave your iPhone at home while you go for a walk, run, bike ride, etc...

The Cellular Apple Watch shares the iPhone's phone number.  This requires the iPhone cellular carrier to support the Apple Watch.  The iPhone carrier charges a monthly fee for this service.  In the U.S. the fee is $10 per month added to your iPhone bill.

iPhone Cellular Carriers that support the Apple Watch, which models, the radio frequencies each model uses, and the country where they offer service:
