Software update issues

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro and I'm trying to download Microsoft Office for college but I need 10.13.0 software and I only have 10.11.something. Is it impossible for me to get further software updates on a 2009?

No. Use an earlier version of Office or a product such as LibreOffice.
