airpods pro sound cutting out

I've had my airpods pro for a few months and they always worked great. I haven't used them in a week or so, they just sat on my desk, nothing came near them but when i put them on the music played for about a second, voice becomes disoriented, and then cuts off. I paused the music, waited a few seconds and played it again but the same thing repeats

latest ios, tried different locations, resetting it, nothing worked
