Lost bookmark folder

I lost a bookmark folder that I would like to get back. I entered time machine but it does not go back far enough. Not sure why it's only going back to my last backup and not to any before then. Maybe it's full?

I have an old hard drive available but cannot find the safari folder or bookmarks.plist in my old hard drive.

What's the best way to find this folder and restore it?

Thank you.

For Time Machine, see Some backups are faded-out and not selectable
