Can anyone help with this so that I continue to prepare my iMac for a new user, please?

What do you do if you accidentally erased Macintosh HD? In preparing a Macbook Air for trade in, as part of the last step, in the disk utility, I accidentally erased "Macintosh HD". Does it need to be restored before trade-in?
