can I recover deleted text messages?

Assuming you do not house your text messages in iCloud, they are saved on your iPhone backups. Restore your latest backup to retrieve the messages that were present when the backup was created.

You will not be able to retrieve any deleted texts unless you restore your iPhone from a backup that you may have created. The other thing is that if you restore your iPhone from a backup then your texts will only be as current as the day and time the backup was created.

Delete a message or conversation

When you delete a message or conversation, you can't get it back. So make sure that you save important information from your messages.
