macOS Sierra Not downloading from App Store

I have been given the MacBook Pro early 2011 13" as a gift and it is currently on OS Sierra. I am trying to download app from the App Store but keep getting error messages and the app just does not download.

I am thinking it is not working as it is an old system so I tried downloading Os Catalina. I had issues downloading Catalina from the App Store too so downloaded a Mac OS Catalina Patcher. I am able to start the download but it does not install the OS. Any tips?

MacBook Pro from 2011 cannot install macOS Catalina.

As for the app you are you trying to install, what is it and did you check to see if it can be installed on macOS Sierra. Most Apple apps now need you to be running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or Catalina.
