sync an ipod classic

I've connected my ipod classic to a win8 pc with itunes 12.10.4.2

In the itunes lib I've some songs but the ipod classic, although is recognized by itunes, is not syncronized.

Why?

In order to sync my iPod on my new computer, I had to connect my iPod, choose Music from the device icon and then check the "Sync Music" box.

I've checked the ipod HDD smartdat using Diagnostic Mode and I've only 5 retracts and 0 reallocs and 0 pending sectors. So it' OK. I've restored it to factory settings using itunes. Them I see 148GB free on it but still the sync do not add any music (stored localy on itunes) to the ipod.
