I want to transfer my iTunes music to my iPhone XR but when I set it up only a small percentage was synched. I use my iPhone to play music in my car but now only have a small library available .

Shepmex, You need to look at Preferences for the Music app, not for the whole Mac. It will look like this, and you can see the option to Show iTunes Store:
If your MacBook is running macOS Catalina, the Music app hides the iTunes Store by default. To make it appear, go to Preferences > General > Show iTunes Store.

I don't have any trouble finding the iTunes store, but I can't find a search engine for putting in the name of an artist. What gives?
