Opacity issue on .png for green screen in iMovie

Hi there!

I've been using the green/blue screen option in iMovie for a while to place logos and titles over videos. I made a png in Photoshop and then place the png into the timeline, change the settings to green/blue screen, and it usually works fine. However, in the past few weeks, it has not kept the image solid and instead makes the logo etc. look slightly transparent.

For example, here's what my png looks like before I change to green/blue screen:

When I put it on green/blue screen, the logo is no longer fully grey and shows some of the video behind it:

Changing the "softness" level does not affect it.

Is there a setting that could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know what is causing the gray to show through. To rule out a corrupt

preference, try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys

and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open

in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see

if the green screen overlay works properly.

Also, you could try creating a new project and seeing if the issue is

resolved there.

You might get better results by using a transparency instead of a green

screen overlay.

Thank you, Rich! I think what was happening is I used to use "Cutaway" but something had changed in the preferences there so that the transparency wasn't working. Deleting the preferences is allowing me to use it as I used to now, so it must have been I used to use that instead. The green screen is still making the opacity less, but no matter since I can use cutaway again now! Thank you!
