Eye Strain MacBook Pro

I just purchased a MacBookPro with Retina Display. I have been feeling eye strain for the first time ever using computers, iPad, iPhone, etc. with this new screen. It's quite striking and clear that there is a connection between looking at the new screen and having these first time eye issues.

It appears that some few folks do experience this. Any answers out there as to why this might happen to some people? I am typing this on my old computer, (a MacBook Pro without Retina Display) which doesn't give me this issue at all.

See your eye specialist. We acan not offer medical advice. There is something wrong with your vision if you are having issues with your computer affecting your eyes. If millions of users are not affected and you are the issue is specific to you. Even in spite of your previous rude response to me I am trying again to advise you to seek professional medical assistance.

It may not be anything inherent in the display itself.

Retina display has many, many, many more pixels per inch. So if you do not intervene, "Best for display" makes all text near-microscopic. That would certainly contribute to eyestrain, bit is not the actual CAUSE -- the cause may be getting the text size too small for easy reading.

But on many of these displays, you can ask for something a little different, called "Scaled". What this does is leave the screen resolution very high (so graphics are at native resolution) but double the size of the text (or 1.2 or 1.5, or 1.8, or 2.4, but you get the idea.)

System Preferences > Displays

... select one of the "Scaled" resolutions. If you see none to choose from, hold down the Option key, and click on the resolutions box and more may appear.

I find lately I need this sort of help more and more. I think of it as the "Large Print Edition".
