How can you access an external APFS formatted drive in El Capitan?

There use to be a software by Paragon Software which allowed this. It was called APFS Retrofit Kit. They no longer sell it. Is there an alternative?

I have referenced on my page the last version of their software that converts APFS to HFS+.

Links to my page may give me compensation. It includes also NTFS conversion tools as well.

No guarantees it will work. However, you might find also that using the startup manager on an APFS system will allow you to load that as a separate partition. The Option key loads the startup manager at startup. Granted, you will want Mac OS 10.13 or later on an external hard drive if your existing APFS system not booting.
