Effects in rendered Keynote video file don't match actual presentation

Hello, I have created a Keynote presentation using bar graphs that 'grow' followed by numbers I make appear at the top of each bar. When I play the presentation back inside Keynote, it looks perfect, exactly as intended. But when I export the file as a movie, the number on only one bar graph appears, while none of the rest of the numbers show. I'm running Keynote 9.2.1 on my iMac which I just upgraded from High Sierra to Catalina (but this problem was happening before I did the OS upgrade).

I'm including a screen capture showing what the finished product should look like. But when rendered as video, only the first value (112) appears with none of the rest of the numbers showing.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this and how I can fix it?

I do not have this issue on our systems, using Mojave or Catalina with Keynote 9.2.1

All I can suggest is to reset Keynote by completing all of the following steps in the order listed:

1. ensure you have a current backup of all your user files saved to a separate drive

2. close all applications

3. uninstall Keynote; for this procedure to work, an application removal tool must be used, App Delete has a free trial and works for this procedure. It can be downloaded from the developer’s website here: App Delete

4. empty the Trash (Finder > Empty Trash)

5. restart the Mac (Apple Menu > Restart); Immediately after the Apple startup sound, press the shift key on the keyboard, release shift when the Apple icon appears. Start up will take longer than usual as the Mac is performing a software repair of the start up drive

6. After the Mac is fully powered up, restart the Mac normally: Apple Menu > Restart

7. reinstall Keynote from the Mac App Store Application

8. Restart the Mac again

Hi, Gary,

I did exactly as you suggested, following every step you laid out. After re-installing a fresh copy of Keynote, I pulled up the Keynote source file (I had it stored on a separate drive) and re-exported to video. Same result! All the numbers I had placed on top of the bars (except the first one) were not appearing.

At that point, I decided it has to be one of two possibilities: Bad data somehow written into the original/source file I built (even though the file and all effects play back inside Keynote just fine) or a bug in Keynote.

The only thing I knew to do was to rebuild the presentation all over again from scratch (including bar graphs and numbers appearing). I then exported to video and held my breath to see what the rendered video would look like. Result: Works perfectly.

I've used Keynote for several years and cannot recall anything like this ever happening before. I have no clue what was going on to cause this.

I appreciate your suggestions (and I like App Delete--might hang on to it).
