I use standard USB thumb drives on my MacBook Pro. I use an adapter. Lately, when I connect, I can't find the thumb drive in the Finder even though the adapter and thumb drive indicate they are getting power. When I remove the thumb drive, I don't get the message that I did not eject it before removing it.

My suggestion would be to get a different adapter and test. Eliminate the obvious and easiest first.

I rebooted the computer and everything works as designed. I should have thought of that first. Thanks for every ones' input.
