I am updating Malwarebytes on my Mac and the update is asking for Full Disk Access. Does this sound correct?

Just upgraded my Paid MalwareBytes app on my late 2015 iMac running Monterey 12.6.1, and received a prompt: "To fully detect and protect against threats, Malwarebytes needs full disk access." Don't think I've ever seen this before, though I've been using the app for several years. Is this safe to do?

Malwarebytes I upgraded to Malwarebytes Premium on my Mac and "allowed full disc" access. My hard drive crashed! I had to erase and restore my hard drive. Now I hesitate to even install the upgraded Malwarebytes software in the free version, which also is asking for "full disc access." Is there a conflict between Malwarebytes and Apple? Do I even need Malwarebytes protection?

should i install malwarebytes on my mac or is disk utility enough? Is malwarebytes necessary for MacOS Monterey? Or is disk utility enough?
