In the previous version of Photos, users could permanently delete a photo from inside an album. The new version seems to have removed that option. While inside an album, a photo can now only be removed from the album and NOT permanently deleted from Photos. Is there another option? What happened?

The keyboard shortcut command-delete ⌘⌫ is still working to delete a photo while viewing an album Just use this key combination.
The command "Delete Photo" will also appear in the menus, if you are holding down the command key ⌘ while viewing the image menu or the contextual menu.

I think this "improvement" is a step back.
In order to Delete you have to go in Library/Imports or, and I don't get it, any Smart Album.
