When I try sort by a particular field nothing happens. I tried selecting "ascending" and "descending" but the still did nothing. I have formatted the entire table as text, I have copied and pasted the data to a new workbook, I have quite and restarted Numbers, but nothing is working. VERY frustrating. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you are sorting a table with formulas in it they may not be designed to sort. There might be a brief flash of the sort and then, back to the usual. Could this be the case here? It is possible to design formulas that will sort but we would need to see examples of your table and the formulas in it.

CSV will strip out the formulas from the whole file, no problem.
If you are jus looking to strip the formulas from a single column you can do this:
Select the column
Copy
go to Edit>Paste Formula Results
You will have the data without the formulas and can sort away.

Thanks Quinn. I checked an there wasn't formulas in the original file that was causing the sort issues. Anyway, exporting to CSV and opening it from there solved the issue. I generally clear formulas when working using the copy and Shift+CMD+V route. Appreciate your quick replies though.
This may have been the issue but I exported to CSV and then opened it again in Numbers and that solved the issue. Thanks Quinn
