Time Machine Backup is Failing
I'm running High Sierra on a MacBook Pro v. 10.13.2.
Time Machine Backup appears to work fine then reaches about 50% and hangs up.
I can't get a completed backup.

Run Disk Utility > First Aid on your TM disk and see what it reports. This will take a very long time. If it reports it cannot be fixed, then your best bet is to wipe the drive and start over. If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the drive.

Thank your for your reply, but I've eliminated that issue.
I used two different drives and the same thing happens on both.
Also, an older iMac completes backup on the same drive with no problem.
Thanks again for your response.
Depends on the amount of data you are backing up. When space is needed TM should delete the oldest backups first to make space but it doesn't always work as expected.
You might connect your TM drive directly to your Mac to see if that makes a difference.
Then boot into Recovery Mode and use Disk Utility to check your internal drive for errors.

Also, be sure you have enough free space on all drives.
Ok. I'll give that a try an let you know if I find anything. Thanks
You're welcome. Let us know.
One other question. There is 80GB of 500GB available on the macbook drive.
Allthough, I'm backing up to a remote disk, does this affect the ability TimeMachine to complete the backup?
