break password on a company phone

One of our employees had his personal apple account on our phone. We need to reset and reuse the phone now that he doesn't have it. I need to get a way to get into the phone without his password.

How can we do that?

Have the company take the device, the original receipt and a company ID to a physical Apple Store to have it cleared. The company may also wish to use MDM in the future to prevent this from happening, and establish a policy about the use of the phones. Many companies use restrictions in policy that if users put personal accounts on the device, or refuse to clear the device when they leave employment, they are responsible for the purchase of a new replacement phone for the company.

This was something new that was found when Activation Lock came out. If you manage a large number of devices that use Apple IDs, such as iPhones, iPads, Apple computers, you may want to invest in the MDM software. It is used to manage devices, push out restrictions, and ensure security compliance, and can be used to wipe devices in the case of theft to ensure no loss of sensitive company data. You should be able to get some information from Apple, or there may be some users on here that use them at their companies. Unfortunately, where I work, we are too small and use our own personal devices for work.
