erase HD

In disk utility was trying to erase an external HD in order to format it for mac but accidentally pressed erase on the mac hard drive instead.

All my data is still there and I can still use all software but the hard drive no longer appears on finder. Advice on how to fix it please? I am a complete newbie with disk utility and (obviously) don't know what I'm doing!

Cheers!

If you were booted into that drive when you ran Disk Utility, it wouldn't have erased anything.

Does it show up in Finder, Show Computer?

Does it show up on the Desktop if you set Finder Preferences to show hard drives on the Desktop?

Does it show up in the Sidebar if you set that preference in Finder prefs?
