How do you remove a reachable email address that is no longer being used?

Depends on where you are doing this.
On an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch you swipe to the left to reveal the red Delete button.
On the Apple ID website, click on the (x) next to it. If the address has a (?) instead, it cannot be removed.
