If it's the numeric passcode you use to open your iPad, you'll need to erase the device via iTunes by following the directions in this link EXACTLY: If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

If nothing helps, take the original receipt and iPad to your Apple Store or reach out to Apple ID Security, via this link: Security and your Apple ID - Apple Support
